Super Smash Bros. 3DS Sells 705,000 In First Two Days In The US

Super Smash Bros9

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS has its much anticipated released two weeks ago tomorrow, about three weeks

after the release in Japan. While the release came on October 3, most would assume that means the first

sales would fall under the October NPD numbers, but due to the way the calendar sits, it actually fell at the

very end of September’s numbers. Even with only two days of sales for the September NPD, Super Smash

Bros. for 3DS still managed to fight it’s way to the #4 spot for the month.

In an official press release from Nintendo of America, it was revealed that Super Smash Bros. for 3DS sold

more than 705,000 copies in only its first two days. Showing that more and more are going digital, over

135,000 of those were bought digitally through the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

Perhaps the biggest impact the game had was on the sales of the Nintendo 3DS itself, which increased 55%

over its August numbers with more than 140,000 units being sold.

The press release also mentions that Hyrule Warriors has had pretty strong sales thus far, with 190,000 in

just a week. Granted, they aren’t Super Smash Bros. numbers, but that is no surprise at all. Mario Kart 8

also added another 60,000 in sales in its fifth month of release, which is pretty good for the Wii U.

Hopefully Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will help to sell the console even more this holiday season, especially

after seeing the Super Smash Bros. for 3DS sales numbers, when it releases next month on November 21.
